One of the the worst tragedies of modern times has struck Nepal. With an earthquake registering 7.9 on the Richter Scale, we can't begin to imagine the loss. It will take years, if ever, to rebuild this amazing country. The horrific quake, the Himalayan nation’s worst disaster in more than 80 years, was followed by powerful aftershocks, including a 6.7 magnitude monster on Sunday.

The Quake which has killed more than 7,000 people and injured more than twice as many, occurred at 11:56 NST on 25 April. Its epicenter lay in Barpak village of Gorkha district and its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 15 km (9.3 mi).

It was the most powerful disaster to strike Nepal since the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake. Some casualties have also been reported in the adjoining areas of India, China, and Bangladesh.

The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 19, making it the deadliest day on the mountain in history. It triggered another huge avalanche in Langtang valley, where 250 are now missing.

Hundreds of thousands of houses were destroyed rendering people homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country. Centuries-old buildings were destroyed at UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley, including some at the Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Square and the Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

Continued aftershocks occurred throughout Nepal, with one shock reaching a magnitude of 6.7 on 26 April at 12:54:08 NST. The country is at continued risk of landslides as well.

We are currently raising funds for immediate emergency relief and and developing programs for YOU to join us on the ground in Gorkha in Ocober - December. They will need as many volunteers as possible. Our intention is to rebuild their community school, living space for the Damai Cast, or "untouchables", and as many homes as possible.

Email us to join the Rebuild Nepal Volunteer Program. And Please DONATE today any amount you can.

UPDATE: We have created a fundraiser on Indiegogo. We are raising $10K to help rebuild the village of Mailung in November, after monsoon season.

NEW UPDATE: We raised over $12K and have an amazing team of volunteers ready to go to Nepal. We have most of the red tape sorted to begin to rebuild the village of Mailung; the school, community space, the homes of the lowest caste and who knows what more. We will teach english and yoga and learn how to harvest crops and cook Nepali style. Thank each of you for your support. We needed every ounce of energy and love you provided.

Thank you!!
